Salute To The Troops

August 12th 2006 Sampson State Park and the Rochester Corvette Club put together a show in honor of the troops. It was a beautiful day for a Corvette ride and show. The Mohawk Valley Corvette club was one of the clubs to participate and it donated $100 in food items and each member donated what they could, which in most cases was the same $100 in telephone cards etc., Kathy Kraus’ brother in Dallas donated a carton of current Flying magazines and another company associated with Flying magazine also donated golf shirts and T-shirts. We had quite a haul when we deposited them in the appropriate container and the folks at Sampson State Park were extremely appreciative of our efforts. Mike Zarnock also got his publishers to send Toy Cars & Models & Toy Shop magazines to the troops.
We were glad to do our part for our Troops and had a wonderful day!

Below is a letter that the club President John Remington received in thanks from Navy Commander Pat Rattan:

" Hello John,
I received your care package -- THANKS!!! it was just what I needed to pick up my spirits around the holidays. I will definitely put everything to good use. Please pass along my thanks to all your fellow patriots in the friends of Sampson for me. Everything we're doing over here is all for you. I hope you all have a joyous and prosperous holiday!
Warm regards,
Pat
